Membership has its privileges

To achieve Full Membership into the Buffalo Troopers Motorcycle Club Sierra Vista, AZ, Chapter the following phases must be completed:

Hang Around Phase

This phase determines whether an individual can fulfill the commitments required by the chapter. Requirements:

  • Participate as a Hang Around for a minimum of three (3) months with maximum of nine (9) months.

  • Own and operate a motorcycle that is 750cc or larger.

  • The motorcycle must pass inspection in accordance with club safety guidelines.

  • Have a valid motorcycle endorsement and insurance (Completion of a motorcycle safety course is recommended).

  • Candidates may participate in all chapter rides and activities, but not in club business meetings.

  • Wearing any Buffalo Soldier Motorcycle Club apparel is not permitted.

  • Receive a favorable vote by a majority of the chapter’s full members in good standing at a scheduled club meeting to begin the Probationary Phase.

Probationary Phase

​A prospect or probationary member (Probie) is an individual who has an interest in joining the motorcycle club and is working toward completing the requirements for consideration into acceptance as a full member.  The path to becoming a NABSTMC member starts with understanding that creed. And understanding what it takes to be a good and productive member of the motorcycle club (MC). That is the first responsibility of a prospective member.  Complete NABSTMC application and submit background check. (Probie must submit a NCIC Check secured at own expense from local Sheriff or responsible law enforcement agency).  Also , effective November 30, 2024, all new Probies includes Associate Probies will be assessed a $75 National Administrative Fee. 

This phase evaluates a candidate’s ability to accomplish the chapter’s requirements for Full Membership. Requirements:

  • Be recommended for acceptance as a Probationary Member by the Membership Committee.

  • Successfully complete a personal interview by the Membership Committee.

  • Voluntarily submit to a criminal background check.  The applicant must have a good reputation for integrity and must not be an active felon or have an active criminal record involving an offense of moral turpitude or listed on any sex offenders’ list. Must not be a member of another motorcycle club or serve in any capacity of such club.

  • The applicant must be 18 years of age or older, and submit an application for membership to the chapter along with a $275.00 nonrefundable fee.  

  • Complete a minimum of six (6) month probationary period. But not to exceed 18 months.

  • Participate in a minimum of two (2) official club overnight rides.

  • Compile a minimum 2,500 recorded riding miles during the probationary period with a full member.

  • Plan and conduct an approved community service project.

  • Give a presentation about any Buffalo Soldier Medal of Honor Recipient.

  • Pass a written knowledge test about the Buffalo Soldier Motorcycle Club and Buffalo Soldier history.

  • Receive a favorable vote by a majority of the chapter’s full members in good standing at a scheduled club meeting to become a Full Patch Member.

Associate Membership Probationary Phase

​Associate membership is available to all “significant others”, to include wives, husbands, girlfriends, boyfriends, relatives, or just friends of the chapter who for whatever reason are not eligible for “Full Membership” status but want to play a role in the chapter’s mission. Associate Members must be sponsored by a full member of the BTMCSV in good standing and are subject to a background investigation under the required considerations listed for full members.

This phase evaluates a candidate’s ability to accomplish the chapter’s requirements for Associate Membership. Requirements:

  • Be a spouse, significant other, relative, or friend of a full member

  • Complete the club’s application form

  • Successfully complete a personal interview by the Membership Committee

  • Submit a $275.00 nonrefundable fee.

  • Be recommended for acceptance as a Probationary Member by the Membership Committee

  • Be introduced, by their sponsor at a general monthly meeting

  • Complete a minimum of six (6) month probationary period with a full member

  • Give a presentation about any Buffalo Soldier Medal of Honor Recipient

  • Successfully pass a written knowledge test about the Buffalo Soldier Motorcycle Club and Buffalo Soldier history

  • Receive a favorable vote from the Full Membership at a scheduled club meeting to become an Associate member.
